Shahbaz Ahmed is the brain behind The Jack Bro. He is a medical physicist by training (a student and learner yet!) and a jack of all trades by passion. He is currently a Medical Physics PhD scholar at Wayne State University, Karmanos Cancer Institute, Detroit, Michigan (USA). He is a Fulbright and PIEAS-Fellowship alumnus with international cultural exchange exposure. Besides studies, he works as a freelance writer, researcher, analyst, and corporate concierge at Upwork and PeoplePerHour.
He graduated with distinction (gold medal and certificate of merit) from The Islamia University of Bahawalpur in 2012. Right after his undergrad, he was selected for a fully funded fellowship by Pakistan Atomic Energy (PAEC). With that, he got his master’s in medical physics at the Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS), Islamabad, with distinction. After graduation, he served at PIEAS as a part of the medical physics faculty for about two and a half years.
He has published research work to his credit related to total body irradiation (TBI), Monte Carlo (EGSnrc) in radiotherapy, etc. As a PhD scholar, his doctoral research work is focused on problems related to Pakistan as he intends to return to serve the medical physics research, practice, and academic needs of his homeland. His research interests include adaptive radiotherapy, image guidance, tomotherapy/precision radiotherapy, treatment planning, quality assurance, and quality management.
Being a Fulbright alumnus, he is a cultural exchange ambassador promoting harmony and peace-building among nations. He believes that being a jack of all trades and a master of quite a few skills is the way to go. In fact, this is the approach that can bring people together. Shahbaz Ahmed – The Name Itself
The name ‘Shahbaz’ (شہباز in the Urdu/Arabic/Persian languages) is a combination of two Persian words, Shah (شہ) and Baz (باز). Shah (شہ) means the king whereas Baz (باز) represents a wide variety of birds like Falcon, Eagle, or Hawk. Combinedly, Shahbaz (شہباز) then means the king of falcons. Likewise, some people translate it to imply the Eagle who flies high.
